How are students chosen, and is this really an exclusive opportunity?

Receiving a nomination to join any Envision EMI program is a reflection of a student having demonstrated academic excellence and/or leadership potential.

Our selection criteria requires every applicant to be nominated by an accredited teacher or earn membership in a national or international honor society. Beyond those directly nominated by select teachers and alumni, sources of the nominees include the Golden Key Honor Society, The National Society of College Scholars (NSCS), the Education Research Center of America (ERCA), and the National Research Center for College and University Admissions (NRCCUA), among others.

We do occasionally receive applications directly from students who haven't otherwise been nominated. Some question the exclusivity of the programs due to the fact that we consider applications from these self-nominated students. While the number of students accepted in this manner is a small percentage of each class, we feel strongly that this is an important aspect of our admissions process as it allows us to find promising scholars who have yet to fully demonstrate their potential. Further, each of these situations is handled on a case-by-case basis and, in all cases, relevant letters of recommendation are requested.

In short, all of those nominated to our programs have good reason to feel proud of their accomplishments.
