ADDITIONAL HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Explore the Smithsonian Institute, the world’s largest museum complex which includes the Natural History Museum, the Air and Space Museum and the National Portrait Gallery.
  • Walk along the National Mall and visit the nation’s best memorial parks including the Washington Monument, the Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the beautiful World War II Memorial.
  • Students will enjoy dinner and dancing during a moon-lit evening cruise on the picturesque Potomac River.

SPEAKERS:

Students have heard from prestigious keynote speakers including:

Dr. Hameed Khan, Scientist Consultant, National Institutes of Health. Dr. Khan is a Fellow at the American Institute of Chemistry and works on the Personal Genome Project.

RADM Robert Williams, P.E, DEE spoke to NYLF/MED scholars while serving as the Acting Deputy Surgeon General of the United States Department of Health and Human Services (Summer 2009)

Dr. Glenn Geelhoed, surgeon at George Washington University Medical Center and recipient of the 2009 International Volunteer Award.
