At the clinical institutions listed, scholars may shadow or interact with healthcare professionals working in areas including Pediatric Intensive Care, Surgery, Emergency Services, Neonatal Intensive Care and Labor & Delivery. Scholars may also have the opportunity to witness open heart surgery through a live feed, interact with surgeons performing the surgery, and have the opportunity to go into a surgical suite to view all surgical equipment.

Centers for Disease Control public health officials. NYLF/MED has partnered with the centers for Disease Control to engage scholars in discussions on Health Disparities, How Public Health fits into the World of Medicine, Physical Fitness, and various other current topics.
Dr. Leon Haley, Jr., is the Deputy Senior Vice-President of Medical Affairs and Chief of Emergency Medicine for the Grady Health System as well as the Vice-Chairman for Grady’s Clinical Affairs. Dr. Haley has several honors and awards including the Atlanta Business Chronicles’ Healthcare Heroes and “Up and Comers Awards”, Georgia Trend Magazine’s “40 Leaders Under 40” and Georgia Association of Physician Assistants Physician of the Year Award.
