Career Track Highlights

Medicine – Introduction to Australia’s Universal Health Care System; Exploring Australia’s Theory, Techniques and Practices in Medicine; Lessons in Bush Medicine: Plants and Natural Ingredients for Medicinal Purposes; Young Leaders in Health and Medicine; and Student Commencement Addresses.

International Relations – Introduction to Current Issues in Australia; Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOS) and International Relations; Roundtable with Local Government Officials; Young Leaders in International Organizations; and Student Commencement Addresses.

The Environment – Protecting Australia’s Resources; Non-Government Organizations and the Environment; Innovative Projects: Indigenous Communities and the Environment; Young Leaders and Environmental Issues; and Student Commencement Addresses.

ALL CAREER TRACKS: Cultural Site Explorations

Sydney Harbor Cruise; Australian National Maritime Museum; Aussie Lifesavers Beach Demonstration; Royal Botanical Gardens: Sydney’s Natural Beauty; Coffs Harbour; Farewell BBQ Dinner, Bush Dance and Sheep Shearing.

OPTIONAL 4-DAY ADD-ON:
Cairns, Australia: Gateway to the Great Barrier Reef

International Scholars taking the opportunity to extend their IYLF adventure, will transfer to Cairns in Australia’s tropical north and examine a prehistoric predator, the great saltwater crocodile, before sailing to the Great Barrier Reef for a day in the sun and sea.  Students will then take part in a presentation titled (Environmental and Geographic Wisdom: Learning from Nature and Culture) before embarking on a spectacular voyage to the Rain Forest of Northern Queensland. Scholars will participate in an aerial survey of the Kuranda Rain Forest region and travel by Sky Rail through Barron Gorge National Park.  International Scholars then take part in a special visit to the Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park for traditional music and an aboriginal dance performance and will also examine the legends and lessons of the 50,000-year-old society of aboriginal people before returning home.
